Giant Robot 2,ポルノ映画 出会い located at 2062 Sawtelle Blvd. in Los Angeles, will host a book-signing for “Stay Melty,” the brand new book from Buff Monster, on Saturday, Jan. 30, from 2 to 3 p.m.
“In his latest monograph, Buff Monster collects his works-in-progress, paintings, murals, posters, stickers, Melty Misfits trading cards and toys. As it’s hard to keep up with this energetic artist’s output, fans will be grateful to find much of his recent work in one compact volume,” said the publisher, Gingko Press.
“I took nearly all the photos (over 600 total) and laid it out myself,” said Buff Monster. “It’s got tons of behind-the-scenes photos; all aspects of my creative output are included. I’m super happy that the iconic Gingko Press published it and that art critic extraordinaire Carlo McCormick wrote the text for it.
“When I moved from L.A. to NYC about three years ago, I didn’t know how it was going to work out. Sure, I had visited NYC a bunch of times, but I had no idea how I would fare. As soon as I moved here, my life changed; a whole new world of opportunities and possibilities opened up.
“Over the last three years, I’ve traveled the world, worked on a little animation for Disney, painted a ton of walls, set up my painting studio in the LES, released my first self-produced vinyl toy, and worked on a million other projects. My new book, Stay Melty, is the culmination of the last few years.”
The color pink, a symbol of confidence, individuality and happiness, is present in everything Buff Monster creates. Originally known as a street artist, over the last 15 years, he’s worked on an impressive variety of projects. His meticulously executed paintings have been shown in galleries around the world; one painting hangs in the Bristol City Museum as part of its permanent collection. He’s also created a variety of limited-edition collectibles including vinyl and resin toys, prints, shirts, stickers and two series of his ambitious trading cards/stickers called The Melty Misfits.
He’s worked with some of the most recognizable brands such as Disney, Converse, Hello Kitty, Samsung, Coca-Cola and others. Along the way, he’s cultivated an impressive following on social media. And whether he’s at home in New York City, or being flown around the world, he still enjoys painting large colorful murals.
Most recently, Jeffrey Deitch ask him to participate in a mural project in Coney Island. He was also featured in Banksy’s Oscar-nominated documentary “Exit Through the Gift Shop.” He’s a tireless worker, often citing heavy metal music, ice cream, pop art, Japanese culture and graffiti as major influences.
