Political campaigns are ????? ?????very important opportunities for candidates to show the world what makes them so special.
But since everyone hoping to be elected focuses on promoting their skills, beliefs, and the issues they care about, Mexican politician Javier Zapata, decided to stand out from his competition by crafting an utterly flawless campaign ... about his mustache and less than original™ social media hashtag.

In addition to Zapata's photograph, the billboards are plastered with his hilarious failure of a campaign hashtag: #hashtagcampaña.
For those of you wondering, that translates to #campaignhashtag.
Yep. This man's campaign hashtag is quite literally "campaign hashtag." Very meta.
So, like, did this dude just call and tell someone to put his campaign hashtag on the billboard? And instead we got this? The world may never know, but people are having a blast mocking it. Many tweets, some of which are in Spanish, imagine the decision process behind creating Zapata's now infamous billboards.

Even Netflix joined in on the fun, promoting its popular political drama House of Cardswith the hashtag. The official Netflix Latin America account tweeted a photo of their own billboard using the similarly basic hashtag: #HashtagHouseOfCards.

I mean, sure the hashtag says nothing specific about Zapata or his campaign, but hey, at least it's unique.
And Zapata seems to like the new slogan. In fact, the candidate decided to embrace the new hashtag and use it to replace his former, equally brilliant slogan: "#PorMisBigotes," which means, "because of my mustache."
He explained his new unique campaign hashtag is a reflection of how close he is to "ordinary people." (Nice spin, buddy.)
"I’m convinced that ordinary people have more experience in creating political campaign ‘hashtags’ than parties themselves or the many campaign consultants that charge millions," he said in a statement from Social Encounter.
Welp, a vote for this man is clearly a vote for mustaches and hashtags everywhere.
