Students of Kaizen Dojo in Torrance, under the direction of head instructor William Christopher Ford (below left), were among the performers of Gardena Buddhist Church’s annual Fujimatsuri, held May 3. Among the youngest students participating was Deejay San Luis (below right).
Gardena Judo Group also gave a martial arts demonstration.
Entertainment included koto music by Awaya Kai (pictured), Okinawan music by Choichi Kai, drumming by Isami Taiko, Japanese classical dance by Fujima Seiyumi Kai, youth musicians ensemble Ntyme, Kananani Kalama Hula, and Pom Pom Girls.
The festival also featured games for kids, food booths, nursery plants, and a country store.
