San Pascual students Juliana Cana, Eddie Martinez, and Sophia Kim share their Children’s Day origami projects led by parent volunteer Yasuko Sagara. Second-grade students at San Pascual Avenue Elementary School in Highland Park celebrated Children’s Day by making origami dioramas. Sagara, who is from Saga, Japan, taught the class about this celebration and prepared the materials for the project. The dioramas featured carps, a helmet, and a windmill. Children’s Day is celebrated on May 5 in Japan. (Photo by Sharon Nakata)
